Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

VISION STATEMENT
We envision a world where women and children rise from crisis into safety, justice, and lasting strength, where every storm meets shelter, every voice finds justice, and every life has the power to rebuild with dignity, hope, and prosperity.
MISSION STATEMENT
To advance justice, safety, and opportunity for women and children by confronting poverty, homelessness, and inequality at their roots. Through legal aid, sustainable housing, economic empowerment, and bold advocacy, BEFA protects the vulnerable, restores dignity, and helps every woman and child rise, rebuild, and thrive..
BEFA Women and Child Care Foundation was born from an unyielding resolve to break the cycles of poverty, injustice, homelessness, and gender-based violence that have silenced women and children for generations.
Our journey began in Nigeria in 2009, where we saw how poverty and the denial of rights trapped women and children in impossible circumstances: women unable to leave abuse because justice was out of reach, mothers struggling to feed and shelter their children, and girls forced out of school by hardship and systems that failed them.
We refused to stand by.
What began as a grassroots movement for legal aid and advocacy grew into a force for justice and systemic change. In 2013, BEFA earned Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, expanding our voice and impact beyond borders while standing with women and children at the margins.
In 2021, BEFA expanded to the United States, recognizing that homelessness is more than a housing crisis. It is a threat to dignity, safety, family stability, and economic freedom. Through the First a Roof Initiative, we are pioneering sustainable housing solutions for homeless working women and their families, creating pathways to independence, stability, and long term empowerment.
At BEFA, we believe poverty is not merely the absence of resources. It is the denial of justice, opportunity, protection, and voice. That is why our work goes beyond charity. We provide legal empowerment, advocate for policy change, support economic inclusion, and build systems that move women from survival to strength.
Our vision is bold: a world where every woman and child has access to justice, safety, shelter, opportunity, and the power to shape their own future.
BEFA is not just an organization. It is a movement to restore dignity, break barriers, confront injustice, and build a future where no woman or child is left behind.
